I love working with kids and books, mostly because I believe completely in the wonderful power of a great story, but also because I believe in the vital necessity of reading in our society today.

My name is Mrs. Brunner and I live in Mt. Zion with my husband, Mr. Brunner, who is a science teacher here in the Jr. High. We have two children--Ben is a high school chemistry teacher in the Ridgeview school district near Bloomington, and our daughter Anna is a junior at Monmouth College here in Illinois studying public relations.
I have a Master's Degree from the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences, and my undergraduate degree is from Eastern Illinois University.
I have been a librarian for all grades, pre-k through 12th, and love it. I love seeing the big grin when a kindergartner checks out that book he is so excited to read, and I love hearing a jr. high school student say "wow, that was a great book. Got any more?"
I began my educational career as a classroom teacher in grades 6 - 8 Language Arts and Reading for 9 years. I love kids and books, but I'm not very fond of grading papers, so being a librarian fits me better!
In the summer my family and I like to travel, and we have been to over 45 states, Canada and the Bahamas. For my 50th birthday I even got to travel to Ireland, where they have no clue how to drive! And this year, for my 55th, we went to Scotland and enjoyed old castles and lots of rain!
We are dog lovers and have two rescue mutts we adore--Sitka and Durin. Durin is having a long hard school year since the reason for his existence is away at college most of the time. We think his breed is a Chiroogle--Chihuahua crossed with kangaroo, with a dash of beagle thrown in to account for his square head and very keen nose! Sitka is a Toy Fox Terrier who absolutely despises any kind of bad weather--snow is the worst for her. We also sometimes babysit for our son's dog, who is a Basenji mix--and he's very quiet as Basenjis cannot bark. He's also clueless about personal boundaries, and he never gets tired, but we love him too!
